Description: This course provides an overview of the Early Childhood profession including: history, program types, regulations, roles, responsibilities, developmentally appropriate practice, play, home-school connections, diversity, community resources, reflective practice, and ethics. You will learn about the multiple aspects and settings of the Early Childhood profession. Must be taken A-F.

2. 2. Examine career opportunities, worker requirements and roles, and professional resources and organizations at the national and community levels
3. 3. Compare types of early childhood programs and Minnesota rules related to home and center based care
4. 4. Imagine home school relationships with diverse families
5. 5. Discuss the National Association for the Education of Young Children’s Code of Ethics
6. 6. Describe reflective practice and Developmentally Appropriate Practice

Prerequisites: 

Placement score into READ 0200 or ESOL 0052 or completion of READ 0100 or ESOL 0042 and faculty recommendation into ESOL 0052.
