Description: This course introduces you to directing for the camera based on the production foundation created in the first two semesters. You will learn the central aspect of the director's craft-cinematic staging-where acting, camera work, and editing intersect; and you will supervise cast and crew efforts and lead them toward a common objective-a work of unified vision and expression. Scene studies, screenings, discussions, readings and collaborative production assignments (with Screenwriting, Cinematography and Editing students as well as actors), will provide an understanding of the director's role in narrative fiction work.

1. 1. Break down screenplays based on script analysis worksheet
2. 2. Write casting notices and hold casting calls for professional actors
3. 3. Create a master-scene coverage blocking plan for the camera
4. 4. Create a viable production plan that ensures all scenes in the script can be shot within the allotted time, with available cast and crew, using available resources and equipment

Prerequisites: 

CIPR 1102, CIST 1102, SCRN 1102, ENGL 1111.
