Molecular Biology (BIOL 2500)

Total Credits: 4
Lecture Credits: 2.00
Lab Credits: 2.00

Description: This course will use an applications-based approach to molecular and cellular biology. You will explore the theories needed to understand and use techniques of molecular biology and methods used to establish current theories. The laboratory will expose you extensively to techniques widely used in academic and industry laboratories.

Topical Outline:

Learning Outcomes:
1. 1. Understand and apply the current theories of molecular and cellular biology, some of the experiments used to arrive at these theories, and currently-used laboratory techniques that can be applied to future advances in these techniques
2. 2. Prepare for laboratory work in research and industrial settings by exposure to current laboratory techniques in molecular biology while documenting laboratory procedures according to industry standards
3. 3. Effectively working in cooperative teams in a laboratory

Prerequisites:

BIOL 2231.
