Description: Drawing 1 is an introduction to the basic drawing principles of line, perspective, composition and value. Demonstrations, slides and studio sessions teach you to respond critically to art, as well as to apply aesthetic principles to your own and others' work of art.

1. 1. Demonstrate knowledge of and practice in, diverse drawing methods
2. 2. Recognize and apply the elements and principles of design (i.e. balance, emphasis, value, line and space) in their own and other drawings
3. 3. Choose and apply of drawing materials (i.e. papers, wet and dry media) with consideration to the desired outcome
4. 4. Critically evaluate the formal and contextual relationships in drawing
5. 5. Respond critically to one's own art and the work of other artists
6. 6. Develop a drawing portfolio

Prerequisites: 

Students must have their own supplies, materials cost approximately $70.00.
