Description:  This course is a continuation of ARCH 1200. You’ll demonstrate an understanding of existing buildings and their associated drawings through collaborative documentation efforts. You’ll then apply your Revit skills to design and document the renovation of an existing building. Emphasis includes building systems, electrical equipment and devices, and ADA-compliant toilet and exit paths. Expect to develop a computer-generated package of architectural construction documents that reflects industry standards.

Description:  This course is a continuation of ARCH 1220. You will apply your knowledge and skills to advance and develop architectural details for wall, roof and floor systems. Description:  This course is a continuation of Arch 1230 where you will focus on developing skills using Revit’s advanced commands and learn to work with schedules, families and documentation tools. You will learn to build families using basic and advanced modeling techniques. You will also learn how to differentiate between when to use groups, in-place families and external families. You will apply your Revit skills to customize graphics for both presentation and documentation purposes.

Description:  This course is a continuation of ARCH 1200. You will apply your knowledge and skills in design and documentation and participate in a group research exercise designed to strengthen coordination and time management strategies. The course emphasizes interpreting zoning ordinances and applying their requirements to your design project. You will learn to explain design decisions and justify choices throughout the process of designing a small to medium-sized commercial building. As part of this work, you will produce floor plans, elevations, sections, and renderings to effectively communicate their design intent.

Advanced Computer Modeling (ARCH 2230)

Description:  This course builds on core Revit skills from ARCH 1230, expanding your ability to independently manage sheet setup and plotting. You’ll deepen your understanding of Revit’s 3D capabilities and learn to create complex custom geometry building form using massing. The course introduces external software for BIM model manipulation, including importing and linking Revit models, developing massing-based geometric forms, and generating basic energy models. You will also learn to produce foundational 3D renderings and advanced animations to support your design process.
