Description:
Beginning Japanese 1 offers you the foundations for basic, contemporary, conversational Japanese. The course will emphasize practical vocabulary, the basic writing system, and conversational patterns. The Japanese character sets hiragana and katakana will be introduced. By the end of the term, you will be able to write basic sentences. You will establish firm foundations for further development of Japanese language skills.

Description:
Beginning Japanese 2 continues building upon basic, contemporary, conversational Japanese. This course will emphasize further development of practical vocabulary, the basic writing system, and conversational patterns. You will also learn kanji and kanji compounds to expand your working vocabulary. By the end of the course, you will be able to have basic conversations in areas of interest. You will be prepared to effectively transfer to an intermediate-level course.
