Description:
Math 0075 is an overview of the introductory and intermediate algebra topics necessary for
MATH 1110, College Algebra. You will learn how to simplify polynomial, radical, logarithmic and exponential expressions and how to solve polynomial, radical, logarithmic and exponential equations. You will also begin applying functional models based on the previous operations. This class is for students who plan to take
MATH 1110: College Algebra and not students who plan on taking
MATH 1119: Precalculus 1.
MATH 0075 will also prepare students for
MATH 1140: Introductory Statistics.

Description:
This course provides an alternate, self-directed way to learn beginning algebra concepts using ALEKS, a Web-based math assessment and learning system. First, ALEKS will determine your individual study plan and the number of credits for which you need to register. In the classroom, you will use ALEKS at your own pace with the help of an instructor. In the course, you will demonstrate mastery of these concepts: arithmetic readiness, geometry and data analysis, real numbers and variables, algebraic expressions, linear equations and inequalities, literal equations, functions, graphing linear equations in two variables, integer exponents, polynomial arithmetic and factoring, rational expressions and proportions, radicals and rational exponents, and quadratic equations. NOTE: For programs having a mathematics requirement of completion of MATH 0060 only, students should take MATH 0060 instead of

Description:
This is the first semester of a two-semester course for non-STEM students. You will learn the concepts and methods of statistics with an emphasis on data analysis. This algebra-based statistics course covers the basics of descriptive and inferential statistics that introduce the fundamental concepts involved in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data. You will learn the interpretation and evaluation of surveys, experiments, and statistical reports encountered in daily life. You will explore graphs, measures of central tendency and variation, probability, probability distributions (continuous and discrete), normal distribution, sampling distributions, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing for one and two population means and proportions, chi-square, linear regression, and correlation. Description:
This course is an introduction to the fundamental concepts of descriptive and inferential statistics, with an emphasis on applications. Course content includes: sample surveys and experiment designs; graphic presentation of data; measures of central tendency, variation and position; exploratory data analysis; introductory probability; random variables and probability distributions; binomial and normal distributions; the Central Limit Theorem; estimation; hypothesis testing; comparisons of two populations; correlation and regression; applications of chi-square; and analysis of variance (ANOVA). The course assumes that the student is familiar with basic computer applications software. Statistical software and/or statistical graphing calculators are introduced and used extensively.

This course develops the foundations of the mathematical topics taught in grades K-6 and will also explore mathematical reasoning, problem-solving strategies, and historical themes to recognize that mathematics is a way of thinking rather than a collection of rules.
