In a classroom resembling a typical architectural firm, students will be immersed in the world of Architectural Technology. They will learn what’s required to design a building with computer-aided design (CAD) and building information modeling (BIM) technology from practicing architects. Students will learn to work closely with architects and engineers to produce construction drawings for use by contractors.

PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOMES

1. Integrate design objectives into a solution, including program, social factors, client needs, business goals, equity and historic and environmental influences
2. Document code-compliant exit paths and accessibility requirements for ramps and restrooms.
3. Analyze a given site and program and then design a light commercial building applying industry-standard codes and conventions, along with cultural and social factors
4. Effectively use state of the industry software to utilize drawing, modifying and sheet set up commands to communicate constructability
5. Select, explain and apply a structural and mechanical system to a building design.
6. Produce 2 and 3 dimensional CAD models of building assembly conditions (i.e. details)
